Farmhouse, Asola
The clients wanted a zen garden for their 3-acre farmhouse.
We created mounds all around the house. To create a zen stroll garden, we made a beautiful curved black gravel pathway between two banks disappearing into the backyard. This area had stairs from the living room joining the gravel pathway. We also gave a small walkway with round slates inserted in the lawn and turning in other directions.
This was a huge zen garden project, so we made a red wooden entry gate which is a crucial zen garden feature. After the red wooden gate, our next part of the Japanese garden started, with benches and rocks. Big size Cycas palms in a group of 7 with bounders around them added a lovely view.
This garden had beautiful bonsai on the left side. There were hundreds of rocks and huge boulders all around the park with proper placement. In the backyard, a zen gravel garden was planned on the other side, there was a beautiful koi fishpond with a bridge. It gave an authentic zen garden touch. We used stone lanterns of different sizes all around the garden. We covered the existing water bore with a Japanese well and bamboo hedge, as shown in the picture.
This garden turned out to be a breathtaking authentic zen garden with black grass, pine, retusa single and multi-topiary all around.
For making this Japanese garden, we strictly followed the principles of Wabi -Sabi, which is very important in Zen philosophy. We strictly followed their three qualities 1. Impermanence 2. Imperfect 3. Incomplete.
