Projects Terrace Gardens

A Residence Defence Colony

The roof of an independent villa located at Defence Colony, New Delhi, had to be designed as a roof garden. The client wished to use it for his yoga sessions from early morning to late evening. He was a garden lover and had installed a lift to the rooftop. The terrace area was 1750 sq feet, which was in an L-shape.
Some issues like closeness to neighbour’s house on one corner and ugly view of service lane had to be dealt with. We decided to camouflage them each differently. We planned one outdoor barbeque with a screen to cover the view of the back lane. To hide the bathroom pipes, we designed a glass and wood screen and placed a sculpture at the front, making it a focal point of the entire garden, as one can see from the pictures. We placed fibre planters all along the periphery. We planted on one side golden Cypress, which works well on the terrace and can stand the extreme heat and cold of the Delhi climate. We gave a vertical green wall to cover the neighbour’s house. A seating three steps up was planned in one corner overlooking the entire roof. We gave one bar counter adjacent to the seating area.
